Top Reasons to Get Your Car Tinted This Summer

Summer is quickly approaching, which means more sunny days and increased temperatures. Tinted windows are more than a way to get your car noticed, they also have many benefits that help keep you cool, comfortable and safe during the summer months.

A high quality window tint film has the ability to elevate your vehicle from ordinary to stylish, while also providing you with these additional benefits:

Safer Driving
While the bright summertime sun makes us feel happy and rejuvenated after a long, drab winter, it also means there is more glare to contend with. A glare while driving is not only a nuisance, it can be very dangerous.

Chances are, you’ve experienced having to pull down your sun visor while driving and playing with it to get it in the perfect place to block the. If you’re messing with your visor or squinting through the sun, your eyes are not focused on the road, which creates dangerous situations.

Strategically applied tint can significantly reduce glare. This means less strain on your eyes and more focus on safety on the road.

Increased Security and Privacy
During the summertime, more people are out and about, which unfortunately means that there is a greater chance of theft. Window tinting keeps prying eyes out of your vehicle, protecting you and your valuables.

Reduced Fading
As the sun shines into your car’s windows on a daily basis, it begins to take a toll on the integrity of your interior. Significant fading can occur in the areas that are exposed to the sun most often, like your dashboard.
This fading not only looks terrible, it also lowers the value of your car. Tinted window film does an excellent job of blocking out the sun and preventing your car from experiencing unsightly fading.

Decreased Interior heat
In addition to the sun’s rays damaging the interior of your car, they also heat the interior up significantly. If you’ve ever had a car with a black leather interior and jumped into it on a hot summer day, you know just how hot your seats and interior can get from the sun.

A good quality window film can provide you with up to 78% reduction in heat transfer. This not only saves your legs from scorching seats; it also saves you time and your AC system. The less time you need to run your AC to cool your car down, the longer your AC
system will last for you.

Health Benefits
Lastly, we’d be amiss not to mention the health benefits that a good car tinting can provide. UVA and UVB ray exposure can cause a variety of health problems from sunburns to skin cancer.

Car tint can help act as a sunscreen by preventing these harmful rays from entering your vehicle and penetrating your skin. In fact, car tinting can block up to 99% of UV light.

Tinting your windows is more than just a style preference. It has many additional benefits that keep you and your car safe from the sun’s harmful rays.

Car Tinting in Hamilton During Winter

Winter gives most drivers a difficult time. Apart from warming your car first before starting your journey, one has to clean their windows from ice and storms. And that’s not all. You also struggle with road visibility. But for those who’ve tinted their car windows, driving during this period is less stressful. So, yes. Tinting your car windows during winter is an excellent idea, and here is why.

Reduce Fade

Color fade from your vehicle is one of the worst things that can happen to your car. Car owners always strive to keep their vehicles looking new for a long time. And since tinting prevents the color of your car from fading, it’s an excellent low cost maintenance method.

Extra Insulation

During winter, most drivers warm up their car first so that they don’t shiver when driving. However, this will not be necessary as window tinting provides additional insulation. Therefore, even in those frigid mornings, your car will remain warm.

Improved Visibility

It’s not easy to see the road during winter because of snow squalls, glare from the sun, and other conditions that reduce one’s visibility. But with poor visibility, you’re risking getting into an accident. However, tinted windows minimize glare from the sun and oncoming headlights. Therefore, you’ll drive safely.

Driving during winter may not be safe. But, tinting your car windows could give you a better driving experience at low costs during this season. Not only will you see better, but one will stay warm. And in summer, the tint will protect your car from harsh UV rays.

If you’re looking for car tinting in Hamilton, consider Absolute Tinting. We specialize in window films and have many years of experience as well as knowledge. With a range of films to choose from and experts who can help you decide the right tint for your car, we’re confident that we will exceed your expectations.

How Paint Protection Works on Vehicles

More and more drivers are beginning to understand the importance of car paint protection. This makes sense considering the huge advantage you stand to gain. A paint protection film will keep your car looking as shiny and clean as new. The best ones will even improve your car’s resistance to scratches and stone chips which are common occurrences that drivers contend with daily.

Most people would rank their car paint as the least of their worries in terms of what they fear going wrong with their vehicle. Despite this, a dent from a scratch or knick to the exterior part of your vehicle can easily exude the feelings of annoyance and anger. Fortunately, paint protection coating, done by an experienced professional can save you this stress.

Before we go into details of how a paint protection film will keep your car paint new and shiny, we’ll briefly shed light on what paint protection film actually is for those who are new to the idea of paint protection.

What exactly is a paint protection film for vehicles?

Let's start with where it began - 3M.  Known for many innovative products, 3M is one of the largest tape manufacturers in the world. The company invented protection film for helicopter blades. These films were purposely made to enhance the lifespan of the rotor blades on a helicopter.

The film in question is a thermoplastic urethane film which proved very practical and successful on helicopters. Upon seeing this success, 3M thought it would also make sense to try this on cars. The protection film was first tried on racecars before they were eventually used on regular road cars.

3M’s paint protection film used to so thick that it would affect the way a car looks. However, technology over the years has helped a lot and the film today has gotten so very thin and even more flexible and effective compared to what we have before.
Picture
But how exactly does this work?

We’ll be detailing the workings of car paint protection on your vehicle so you can have a clear picture of the why and how a paint protection coating for your car done by a professional is the best choice.

It used to be that you could only apply the film on your vehicle through certified dealers. Today, the market has grown so much for this that there are now many aftermarket outlets who can handle this to protect both new and old cars.

But that is not to say you should get anyone to apply your paint protection. Only a skilled and experienced professional like those at Absolute Tinting will guarantee the efficacy of the paint protection film, which is also dependent on how well it is applied.

The thin layer of film is adhesive, malleable, and viscous. It is cut to fit on the area of your vehicle that you are protecting and applied in those places. It's essential that the surface for the vehicle be as clean as possible so the film is applied cleanly and smoothly. In some cases, there will be some small dimples under the film (a professional will limit this), but the film will ensure the paintwork will remain intact and untouched.

Trust a paint protection professional

You'll only want films from the best brands (like 3M) so you can get long-term best results, and the better ones are most costly, so you don’t want to waste them by misapplying the film. By using a professional, you'll protect the value of your investment and get the optimal outcome.

What is Window Tint and How Does it Work?

10/2/2018

Have you ever wonder how  getting your car windows tinted or adding film to your home or office actually works?

If this is you, then you are in the majority, as most people don’t know the technical aspects of window tinting. Continue reading as we shed light on how window tinting works.

What is Window Tint or Film?

Window tint or film is a sticker made using polyester laminate. This sticker has an extra thin layer of different dyes and metals, from lightly shaded to dark. One side of the sticker has an adhesive to make it easy to apply on the window. On the other side, the sheet features a scratch-resistant coating.

Where is Window Tint or Film Applied?

Most people believe that window films are applied on the outside. This is a huge misconception; the window tints are installed on the inner surface. This is because the sheet can get damaged when installing on the outer surface from hard objects like debris.

How Does Window Tinting Work?

Window tinting helps in limiting the visible light that comes into the car. A window without the tinting can absorb 5% of the visible light (VLA %), transmits 90% of light (VLT%), and reflects 5% of the visible light (VTR%).

Once the tint is applied, these quantities are changed. This depends on the type of the tint; there are plenty of tints available. Some are developed to absorb the light while some are made to reflect light. You can choose the tint characteristic according to your preference or requirements.

Mostly, for the rating of the window tint, VLT% is used. The rating is usually included in the name, for instance, Madico Charcoal CH-55. When the VLT% is low, it means less light can be transmitted. It has an impact on the darkness of the tint as well.

A remarkable feature of the window tint is that it will not allow dangerous rays to pass through. These tints will block the cancer-cause ultraviolet rays. In addition, they are also capable of preventing infra-red rays to pass through the glass. When Infra-red rays enter the car, they produce heat.

The effectiveness of the window film is dependent on certain factors. These include the brand, type of window tint, and installation quality.

What are the benefits of Window Tinting?

There are several benefits of window tinting. You can stay protected from the harmful effects of the sun. It is a great way to enhance your privacy and security. This is because it will let the light in and let you see out, but outsiders can’t see inside. It is an excellent option for keeping your car cool in summers.

In the end, window tinting is a great way to keep your car cool. It is because window film will block the UV and infra-red rays. When you are looking for a reliable company offering tinting service, we are a name to rely on.

Different Films for Different Purposes

Before we get into the details about the different type of window films available on the market, we should explain what a window film is. A window film is a thin sheet of laminate that goes on the interior or exterior of the window itself.  You can think of a window film as a protective shield for the window and a way to enhance its performance. With that basic explanation of window films out of the way, let’s talk about the different types.

Window films are categorized based on their construction and technical performance. Window films can be dyed, pigmented, metalized, ceramic, or nano. They can enhance privacy, solar control, safety, and/or security. You can see now why it is important to know the different types. Each type serves it’s own purpose and can either add to or take away from what you are trying to accomplish with the style of your home or office.

Metalized Window Film

Let’s go one by one, starting with metalized window films. These are usually made of copper, aluminum, or nickel. The purpose for this type of window film is to deflect the outside heat during the hot summer months and to keep heat in during the winter.

Coloured Window Film

Coloured or dyed films look really cool in large office buildings with a lot of windows. This is a creative way to stand out from the rest of the buildings on the block. If you like the benefits of each of the two types of window films mentioned so far – metalized and dyed – you’re in luck because you can also order hybrid film, which is a combination of the two.

Ceramic Window Film

Ceramic and nano window films are meant to strengthen the glass of the window. This is especially important in windy areas where debris can easily scratch up the surface of your nice, new windows.

Choosing the right Window Film for your Home

There are many things to keep in mind when deciding which type of window film is best for your windows. This is where the knowledge of an expert comes into play. They will be able to tell you which window film is best for you based on your location and personal preferences.
Although it may seem like an easy process now, it is important to find a professional window film installation service.

At Absolute Tinting, we have 20 years experience installing all different kinds of home window film and we work with leading residential films brands such as Solard Gard. If you have any questions about window film options or would like a free quote we encourage you to call us at 905-664-3652 or fill out the form on the right side of this page.

Hopefully after reading this article you feel more informed about the main differences between types of window films. There are so many decisions that go into the design of a home or office building, so the more you know ahead of time the better off you will be.
