Have you ever wonder how  getting your car windows tinted or adding film to your home or office actually works?

If this is you, then you are in the majority, as most people don’t know the technical aspects of window tinting. Continue reading as we shed light on how window tinting works.

What is Window Tint or Film?

Window tint or film is a sticker made using polyester laminate. This sticker has an extra thin layer of different dyes and metals, from lightly shaded to dark. One side of the sticker has an adhesive to make it easy to apply on the window. On the other side, the sheet features a scratch-resistant coating.

Where is Window Tint or Film Applied?

Most people believe that window films are applied on the outside. This is a huge misconception; the window tints are installed on the inner surface. This is because the sheet can get damaged when installing on the outer surface from hard objects like debris.

How Does Window Tinting Work?

Window tinting helps in limiting the visible light that comes into the car. A window without the tinting can absorb 5% of the visible light (VLA %), transmits 90% of light (VLT%), and reflects 5% of the visible light (VTR%).

Once the tint is applied, these quantities are changed. This depends on the type of the tint; there are plenty of tints available. Some are developed to absorb the light while some are made to reflect light. You can choose the tint characteristic according to your preference or requirements.

Mostly, for the rating of the window tint, VLT% is used. The rating is usually included in the name, for instance, Madico Charcoal CH-55. When the VLT% is low, it means less light can be transmitted. It has an impact on the darkness of the tint as well.

A remarkable feature of the window tint is that it will not allow dangerous rays to pass through. These tints will block the cancer-cause ultraviolet rays. In addition, they are also capable of preventing infra-red rays to pass through the glass. When Infra-red rays enter the car, they produce heat.

The effectiveness of the window film is dependent on certain factors. These include the brand, type of window tint, and installation quality.

What are the benefits of Window Tinting?

There are several benefits of window tinting. You can stay protected from the harmful effects of the sun. It is a great way to enhance your privacy and security. This is because it will let the light in and let you see out, but outsiders can’t see inside. It is an excellent option for keeping your car cool in summers.

In the end, window tinting is a great way to keep your car cool. It is because window film will block the UV and infra-red rays. When you are looking for a reliable company offering tinting service, we are a name to rely on.
